Looking back on 2022

New Year's Eve 2022

As we come to the end of the year 2022, I want to reflect on my learnings from this year with the following quote in mind:
'Comparing ourselves to each other will rob us of joy. Comparing our past selves to our present selves can be a means to gratefulness.'

Motivation comes from many sources. I get inspired by seeing others do well. I get motivated to help others also do well. I get challenged to try and do well myself too.

Gratitude and appreciation of opportunities that occur helps us live with a positive mindset. A positive mindset helps us to seek out opportunities and to lay a foundation of hope to work from.

During this year, the biggest achievements for me aren't times, distances, medals, PBs, though I'm very pleased about them all. My biggest achievements have been the discoveries I have made about myself, about those around me, about how the mind works for me and for others, and the lessons that I can take forward from this in my own personal development.

I am grateful most of all for the support and encouragement from those around me, near and far, who are willing me on to succeed, to be happy, and to be the person I want to be.

If I look back to where I was a year or two ago, I know that life is very much more richer and fuller now due to those I am fortunate to spend time with.

It is these thoughts, that take me into the new year with a big smile on my face, with hope in my heart, with enthusiasm bursting out all over the place, and a great deal of optimism to keep being inspired by others, being motivated to help others, and to keep being challenged to improve.

Happy New Year everyone. 🥳⭐️🎊
